Praised for his versatility and spontaneity, multi-genre vocalist Mark-Anthony Thomas is a proud native of New Orleans, Louisiana. He is graduate of the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts (NOCCA) and Loyola University of New Orleans, where he received his Master of Music, studying with internationally acclaimed artist, Luretta Bybee.
Most recently, Mark-Anthony has appeared in New Orleans Opera’s production of Blue as Policeman #2 and was a soloist with Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra for their annual Holiday Spectacular. He performed the title role in the world premiere of Chris Burton’s The Self Portrait of Jonathan Jenkins with New Fangled Opera. He also has performed various roles and concerts in the greater New Orleans area, specifically productions at Loyola University New Orleans, including Puccini's Gianni Schicchi (Gherardo), Gounod's Romeo e Juliette (Tybalt), Kurt Weill's Street Scene (Daniel Buchanan), Poulenc's Dialogues des Carmélites (First Commissioner), Massenet’s Cendrillion (Le Roi), and Ravel’s L'enfant et les sortilèges (La Théière). He has also appeared in OperaCreole and Cripple Creek Theatre’s production of Scott Joplin’s Treemonisha (Andy) and as Servant/First Soldier in Jose Rivera’s, Sueño.
Along with his operatic repertoire, Mark-Anthony is a songwriter, arranger, and performs at jazz and R&B venues throughout the New Orleans region. He is also the Arts Pastor at Vintage Church New Orleans, an Artist-Teacher at NOCCA and serves on its’ Board of Directors, and is a background vocalist for the GRAMMY award winning Tank and the Bangas.
